About slshs.net

The web site came into being in 2002 when alumnus Kim Watt from the first graduating class of S-L in 1970 was searching for old friends. Being a computer programmer, he decided to tackle the job of creating a place where alumni could gather to keep in touch.

He initially spent about six months creating the initial web site, scanning and cropping yearbooks, and building databases for the first revision which was finally placed online in the summer of 2002.

Not expecting to draw the huge numbers of alumni who regularly visit the site, he began a re-write of the site to accommodate the huge amount of data that was being collected. During the summer of 2004 the second version of the site was placed into service, and yearbooks through 1999 were added.

Kim sold his bar/restaurant in the fall of 2008, retired at 46, and began the third revision of the site, the biggest undertaking yet. He doubled the feature set that was available, and optimized the site to accommodate the vast databases which were growing astronomically.

After going back to work at 60 years old, he finally retired for the last time in 2023 at 70. At that time he spent a year scanning and cropping more yearbooks, cross-referencing all the names and photos, and adding all of the text from all the yearbooks to a huge database. Also trying to make the site more phone friendly, this version of the website was posted in the summer of 2024. As of this writing, he has 45 of our 49 yearbooks online. Registered users can browse all of the available yearbooks, or download the entire yearbook as a PDF.

Kim hopes that everyone has enjoyed the site over the years - providing a great place for S-L alumni to keep in touch.
